Getting Rid of Your Spider Veins
Spider veins are small web-like veins that appear on the skin. They serve no purpose or function. They are unsightly and can cause local itching, burning sensation or cramps. Being present more in women than men, spider veins require medical knowledge and manual skills to properly eliminate. Since there is no one perfect way, a combination of three treatment steps will get you the best results:
- Sclerotherapy – a medical procedure where tiny veins are injected with a solution that causes them to collapse and eventually be absorbed by the body.
- Tiny remaining veins, too small to be injected, are treated with a skin laser that burns them away.
- Remaining larger veins are removed using a fine hook.
A combination of these three methods produces the most effective and pleasing results. All these treatments are done in-office and come with no pain since we use a topical cream, local anesthesia, and cold air to numb the skin.
The process may require 2-3 meetings. There are no restrictions that limit normal daily activity.
